Finishing Parts & Processes

With the hundreds of various types of plastics and polymers, aluminum alloys, brass and bronze, and stainless or carbon steel alloys Tamshell works with, we’re very familiar with processes to finish your parts to exact specifications.

Whether we finish your parts inside or send them out, we monitor the quality of all parts shipped from our docks and ensure everything is inspected closely.

Below are just a small portion of the types of part finishing processes we work with.

Types of Finishes for Machined Parts

  1. Machined As-Is: All surfaces as machined, tool markings evident, all features still machined to spec.
  2. Bead Blasting: Matte finishes with gentle texturing, visually appealing for parts that usually are on the surface of a product and need certain aesthetics.
  3. Powder Coating: Adds wear and corrosion-resistant layers, with many color options for visibly pleasing features.
  4. Anodizing: Greatly assists corrosion with many color options for most aluminum part types.
  5. Polishing: Smooth, shiny surfaces. Tool markings may be less or not visible. Vapor polishing for best brilliance.
  6. Plating: Adds a metal coating to greatly improve appearance and helps resistance to corrosion.
  7. Vapor Polishing: Popular polishing for plastic parts and components. Adds very brilliant aesthetics and may create mirror sheens or gloss.
  8. Fire Polishing: Surface melting of some plastics to create more brilliance.

We work with many process partners with dozens of various finishing options for our customers. We carefully vet all outside process vendors to meet our stringent quality standards.
