The Beginnings

1980

Tamshell’s journey began in a shared warehouse in Norwalk, California, in the fall of 1980, when Art Pierce and John Hernandez decided to elevate their machinist skills. They started a small shop that would eventually grow into a 33,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art machine shop.

Building a Reputation

1990

They embarked on the challenging task of building a company from scratch, taking on jobs that were beyond the capabilities of most shops at the time. These jobs involved the machining of plastic (polymer) materials, a field that was just starting to demonstrate its immense potential for aerospace and military applications. Not many machinists had a deep understanding of plastics machining at that time. As they consistently completed these complex plastic jobs, their reputation grew. It became known that they were experts in their field.

Trusted Partnerships

1991

John and Art understood the importance of building trusted partnerships with their customers. They achieved this by attentively listening to their customers’ needs, customizing their jobs from start to finish, and providing regular feedback and updates. This approach was instrumental in maintaining long-term business relationships.

A Legacy of Expertise

2024

Today, Tamshell continues to uphold its legacy as a family-owned precision machining company. Now under the leadership of Art and John’s sons, Justin and Michael, the company remains true to its core principles. Tamshell’s team comprises experienced, dedicated, and knowledgeable management and machinists. Their customer service, which is both friendly and considerate, continues to uphold these principles in today’s modern era.
